World War Z's Proving Grounds Update Out Now

New DLC for Saber Interactive’s World War Z adds a new weekly challenge mode to keep things fresh.

The co-op shooter, which was inspired by the movie of the same name, has recently added the Proving Grounds Update. This free content adds a weekly challenge mode to the game with separate playlists that modify the game’s core rules. For example, all weapons might be replaced with crossbows, or players will take damage if they stand too close to one another.

Players that complete these weekly challenges will be rewarded with an in-game currency which can be used to purchase character customisation items like headgear, backpack attachments and colour schemes.

In addition, the new update also includes a new Classic Battle Rifle as well as a number of bug-fixes and quality-of-life improvements.

The Proving Grounds Update completes the first Season of free DLC for World War Z – which includes the new “The Undead Sea” Tokyo mission and the six-skulls extreme difficulty setting for all chapters – while Season 2 promises to add new PvE maps, a survival mode, a new special zombie, gameplay updates and additional player skins.

World War Z is currently available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. If you haven’t already, why not take a look at our review
