DeNa in partnership with The Pokémon Company has released more information on their upcoming mobile title, Pokémon Masters. First revealed during the annual Pokémon Press conference back in May, Pokémon Masters is due for release on Android and iOS devices later this year.

2In Pokémon Masters players form a team of trainers to engage in 3-on-3 real-time battles. Set on the island of Pasio the game features famous trainers from the entire history of the franchise, players can team up with duos such as Korrina & Lucario, Brendan & Treecko, Clair & Kingdra, and many more. At launch, there will be 65 sync pairs available with more adding post-launch.

“The Pokémon brand has captured the imagination of the world, and we are honored to create the newest Pokémon adventure for mobile devices with Pokémon Masters,” said Isao Moriyasu, CEO of DeNA. “We look forward to sharing new ways to battle when the game releases.”

Pokémon Masters introduces a new battle mechanic, developed specifically for mobile devices. Players command a squad of three sync pairs (consisting of a trainer and their partner Pokémon) in real-time battles. Players will be able to unleash a barrage of moves – while the AI opponents do the same. There are also more powerful sync moves which can be performed by specific sync pairs to deal more damage.

“For years, fans have created enduring memories engaging with their favorite Pokémon characters throughout the Pokémon video game series,” said Tsunekazu Ishihara, president and CEO of The Pokémon Company. “With DeNA’s development expertise, we’re excited to bring together past and present Trainers and their partner Pokémon in a unique gaming experience that will delight fans around the world.”

Pokémon Masters is planned for release this summer on Android and iOS devices as a free-to-start game and will feature in-app purchases.
