Marvel’s Avengers Trailer Released

The Avengers as we know them in the MCU may be at an end, but Square Enix has other plans in mind for Earth’s Mightiest Heros.

During the company’s E3 presentation the trailer for Marvel’s Avengers was shown. Originally announced a couple of years ago, details on the game have been fairly sparse. With the new trailer, we have a lot to look forward too.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Developed by Crystal Dynamics (in collaboration with Eidos-Montréal, Crystal Northwest, and Nixxes Software), Marvel’s Avengers sees players take control of some of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel universe to save the world from a currently unknown threat in both single and multi-player.

At the moment, it looks like Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor will appear in the game. It’s unknown if any other characters will be making an appearance at launch, but Crystal Dynamics is looking to support the title long after release; without loot boxes or pay-to-win aspects.

“We’ve assembled world-class developers from across the industry to bring players on an unforgettable journey,” said Ron Rosenberg, Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics. “To ensure a truly heroic experience for all players, we’re announcing that our narrative will be delivered over multiple years, with no loot boxes or pay-to-win scenarios. Every new Super Hero and region will be delivered to players at no additional cost if you own the core game. This is just the beginning of what we’ve got in store for our fans.”

Now the waiting game begins, with Marvel’s Avengers releasing on the 15th of May 2020 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google’s upcoming Stadia.
