It Looks Like EA Have Made a Live-Action Anthem Short Film

EA and Bioware have teamed up with the talented Neill Blomkamp (the director behind District 9 and Chappie) to develop a live-action prequel for their upcoming action RPG, Anthem.

The short film, titled Conviction, is due for release later this month; the very short teaser trailer can be seen below.

Set decades before the beginning of the game, in Conviction, the in-game city of Fort Tarsis will come to life. The inhabitant freelancers that use the Javelin exosuits have been brought to life in the short as they fight against the main villain and head of the evil Dominion faction, the Monitor.

“I was really blown away by this incredible world BioWare created the very first time I saw Anthem,” said Neill Blomkamp. “Conviction sets the stage with a narrative that touches on Anthem’s beautiful and immersive world, which is ripe for exploration by these powerful Javelins. A world where danger is lurking on every ledge and in each valley.”

The full short is due for release in a little under 47 hours time (at the time of writing) and can be viewed on the Oats Studios YouTube channel. (We’ve linked it below for your convenience as well)

Anthem is set to release on the 22nd of February on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC through EA’s own Origin service. Origin Premier members will be able to play the game first starting on the 15th of February.
