Nintendo Switch Online Service to Launch During the Second half of September

Nintendo has confirmed that the online subscription service for the Nintendo Switch will be launching during the latter half of September this year; but despite this, they’re still pretty cagey on what we’ll actually be getting.

While the service is fairly affordable, it doesn’t really seem like Nintendo is offering too much. For the moment we know that we’ll get access to a number of NES titles complete with online play, access to the online services for games such as Splatoon 2, ARMS, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Tennis Aces and Cloud Backup for Save Data – though according to the Nintendo website this isn’t compatible with all software.

There is also talk of special deals and features through the Nintendo Switch smartphone app but more on that is due to be released at a later date.

Nintendo has confirmed that owners of their hybrid console won’t be automatically enrolled into the online service so you’ll need to activate it when it goes live in a couple of months time. You can take a look at the prices below.

1 month (30 days) – £3.49
3 months (90 days) – £6.99
12 months (365 days) – £17.99
Family Membership 12 months (365 days) – £31.49

By creating a Family Group you can add up to eight Nintendo Accounts to share the online service. It’s worth it if you have a couple of like-minded friends who want to subscribe to the online service; saving money in the process.
